SR/WA - Senior Member, International Right of Way Association - is the professional designation granted by IRWA to members who have achieved professional status through experience, education, and examination.
The SR/WA designation requires training and examination in several right-of-way disciplines. The SR/WA designation says, "I have more than 5-years of right-of-way experience, plus I have had formal training in a wide variety of right-of-way areas." The SR/WA professional may be a specialist in one area, such as acquisition or appraisal, but also must be familiar with the other disciplines associated with the right-of-way profession.

Appraisers
Asset (Property) Managers
Attorneys - Right of Way Law
Engineers
Environmentalists
Negotiation/Acquisition Agents
Relocation Assistance Personnel
Right of Way Managers
Surveyors
Title Officers
Qualification
To qualify for the SR/WA Program, you most possess experience in one or more of the substantive right-of-way disciplines: Appraisal, Asset/Property Management,
Negotiation/Acquisition, Relocation Assistance, Engineering, Real Estate Law, Environmental Studies, Land Survey, and/or Title Services. Candidates must work full-time in a given discipline
as either a practitioner, reviewer, or supervisor. Specific requirements for Applicants in each discipline can be viewed in the following documents.

Registration Process - Summary

1. Download a Candidacy Application form: Download Form Here
2. Complete the application and submit, with the application fee, to our Chapter Professional Development Committee (PDC) Chair.
3. Upon approval, you will receive a confirmation letter with a Candidacy Registration number from International Headquarters. You will then have 5-years to complete the program.
Steps to SR/WA Designation
1. Membership: Member in good standing with the International Right Of Way Association
2. Experience: Minimum 5-years of qualifying right-of-way experience
3. Education: Bachelors degree or Proof of 8-years of qualifying experience
4. Coursework: Complete all Core Courses required, as detailed in Program Brochure above
5. Exams: Pass one (1) comprehensive exam OR 4 of 7 discipline exams
SR/WA Symbols of Achievement
Individuals who successfully complete the SR/WA program will receive a distinctive, red and gold SR/WA lapel pin and a wall plaque.
Individuals who earn this prestigious designation are authorized and encouraged to display the SR/WA designation on individual letterhead, business cards, and other professional forms. |
